You may be wondering what a typical flight lesson looks like. It obviously depends on how far you are into your training. Assuming you are looking for a private pilot’s licence to fly recreationally, the first few lessons will follow something like this:
Lesson 1 – Introduction
This will involve learning how to perform a preflight inspection, the basics of flying a light aircraft and how “air traffic control” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_traffic_control) works.
Lesson 2 – The Fundamentals of Flight
You will learn the importance of decision-making in flight. You will also learn the basic manoeuvres such as takeoff, turns, straight and level flight and landing.
Lesson 3 – Flight Instruction
By now you will be spending more time in the air or using a flight simulator. You will be learning about how to apply control inputs and read instruments in flight.
Lesson 4 – Stall Recovery
One of the most important things to learn is how to recover after slow flight or stalling.
The above are only examples and all flight training schools will differ slightly. The one thing that they should all have in common is that in every lesson there will be a major focus on safety and emergency procedures.
